Notification of “Dr. Prafulla K. Pani Research Fellowship” at SCMM, JNU
The former Director of Central Avian Research Institute (CARI), Izatnagar (U.P.) Dr. Prafulla Kumar Pani has desired to offer a short term fellowship to a suitable candidate from the interest raised from his generous donation to the ‘Special Centre for Molecular Medicine’ at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
‘Dr. Prafulla K. Pani research fellowship’ is a short term fellowship of @ Rs. 10,000/- per month (consolidated) and is available for completing a research-based dissertation, thesis or report to be carried out at the Special Centre for Molecular Medicine (SCMM).
Essential qualifications & Experience:
1) M.Sc. (with 60% marks or equivalent CGPA ) in Biotechnology or Microbiology or Biochemistry with practical experience of working in BSL-I and BSL-II facility.
2) Experience in the field of molecular and Cell Biology and /or handling analytical Instruments. Should have good communication and inter -personal skills.
3) Working knowledge of computer is essential.

As part of this laboratory's research on gene regulatory mechanisms including understanding the role of chromatin in transcription governing skin pigmentation, applications are invited for the following positions in the CSIR funded project "System-based Computational Model of Skin".
Position 1: Project Associate
Essential Qualifications: M.Sc. in Bioinformatics/any branch of Life Sciences with a strong academic record. Candidates should have a keen aptitude and knowledge for understanding gene regulatory networks, genomics, and knowledge of computer language such as PERL programming is required. Desirable: Hands-on experience in microarray data analysis and programming would be preferred.

Essential Qualifications: Higher Secondary/10+2 passed. This is an exciting opportunity for Master's students to train in modern methods in parasitology and gain firsthand experience on several human parasites. The duration of the training will be four to six months, starting from January/February 2014. The performance o the trainee will be monitored by periodic reviews and continuation will be based on satisfactory performance. Training will include both lectures and practicals.
